 Music is an essential part of swimmers' lives. Sometimes it's a favorite song you use to get your strength up before a race. Other times simply a catchy rhythm that does not leave you throughout the training or the melody of the speakers to drive away boredom in the long series of legs with Lifeguard Classes near me.

Whatever the case, music always accompanies athletes. There are songs that, at a certain moment, manage to capture our mood with amazing accuracy. In fact, the titles of familiar songs that you sometimes hum without realizing it can serve to describe an entire training session:

Although we have different reasons to love our sport, or different motivations to train, we all go to the pool for the same thing: to work. It can be hard to get up early, or go to training after an intense day, but if you show up in the locker room it is because you have made the decision to make an effort and make each day count in achieving your goals.

2. “Slow down” – Selena Gomez. 

Once you're poolside, however, things look different. Even if you arrived with the intention of working hard, it is often difficult to maintain a positive attitude after seeing the practice on the board. Then time seems to go faster. Although you secretly want the moment of reflection before entering the water to be prolonged, or the complaints with your companions about the injustices that fate has in store for athletes, the clock is ticking and sooner or later you have to dive.

3. "No air" - Jordan Sparks. 

When the training has begun and the pace only increases, every little break on the wall is spent taking deep breaths. In a sport like swimming, eminently cardiovascular, oxygen is a scarce resource. Especially if we consider that one of the conditions to dedicate oneself to this sport is accepting to spend a good part of the time submerged. In fact, swimming is one of the rare sports (aside from synchronized maybe) where you can be told off by your coach for overbreathing if it's breaking your race rhythm.

 4. “The Climb” – Miley Cyrus. 

Hard sets are undoubtedly the most rewarding for swimmers, but they are physically and mentally challenging. As Miley himself says: "I have to be strong, keep going." That is the daily challenge of athletes. Training sometimes resembles an endless climb or a battle that gets tough. Mind you, once you reach the top (in our case, once you hit the wall and catch your breath), it's worth it with American Lifeguard Association Miami.

Not even the sweet moment of getting out of the pool marks the end of the ordeal. Lactic acid build-up, dry practice and doubles often take their toll, leaving the body sore for days after extra exertion. Our friends laugh as they watch us agonize upstairs after a leg workout, or wince as we raise our arms after practicing the push phase. But the fire that burns our muscles, as the lyrics say, is also the irrefutable proof of our dedication and the announcement of the prize that awaits us.
